ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Allan Ferguson grew up in Decatur, Illinois, where Route 36 cuts through the middle of the city. He graduated from Millikin University in Decatur before migrating westward on Route 36 for graduate studies in history and library science at the University of Denver. Route 36—America’s Heartland Highway sprang literally from the many trips Allan made over the years between Colorado and Illinois. The “ah-ha” moment came somewhere in the middle of Missouri in October 2016 when he thought, “Someone ought to write about this incredible highway.” That someone turned out to be him! The result is an informative, entertaining guide to the landscapes and communities on US36 in the American Heartland. If you read the Introduction, you’ll want to buy the book!
